Professional Programs

As part of Embry-Riddle’s commitment to continuing professional education and lifelong learning, ERAU hosts a variety of aviation focused short-courses. All courses are offered in a face-to-face classroom setting taught by aviation industry subject matter experts. These courses are tailored for industry professionals involved in the operations, management and supervision of aviation organizations.

Short Courses

Advanced Avionics

The course covers legacy systems, in particular those that civil aviation authorities intend to keep in operation as a backup for satellite navigation. Key topics will include navigation principles, space-based navigation, DME, inertial navigation systems, RNAV, augmentation systems, surveillance systems and communication systems.

All-Enterprise Emergency Response and Resilience

This course will discuss the nature of emergencies and natural disasters in a company, with a focus on how emergency response, resilience and business continuity can mitigate the impact on the enterprise.

Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS)

This course is a must for any aviation safety professionals involved in their organization’s safety management system.

Avionics

This course introduces engineers and technicians to modern avionics and the systems used in the implementation of performance-based navigation and required navigation performance.

Disaster Assistance and Response

Are you prepared? This course will guide participants through the preparation for a disaster involving the loss of life, the response to an event and recovery, and the return to normal operation. Attendees will hear from subject matter experts with real-world experience and gain valuable knowledge in understanding how to effectively support family assistance efforts for an organization involved in accident response.

Human Factors Analysis Classification System (HFACS)

HFACS is recognized as the “Gold Standard” in human factors analysis and classification; this intensive two-day seminar (available in person and virtually) provides training in the application of innovative methods for managing human error that are scientifically derived, empirically tested and proven in the field.

HFACS-Advanced

Participants will go beyond the basic concepts of HFACS and the Human Factors Intervention Matrix (HFIX) and explore advanced techniques for integrating proactive safety tools and data analytics into the framework. Participants will learn how to leverage these tools to enhance safety analysis, identify potential hazards and develop effective safety interventions.

Introduction to Civil Aircraft Certification

Participants will be introduced to the requirements to certify civil manned and unmanned air vehicles through the FAA, and review the regulations governing aircraft certification and the method to certify emerging technologies that do not have regulations.

Media Relations in Aircraft Accident Investigation

This course provides a behind the scenes look at the news media cycle as well as best public relations' practices in the occurrence of an aircraft accident, mishap or safety event.

Structural Failure Identification In Aircraft Accident Investigations

This course is designed to teach the participant the fundamentals required to identify failure modes of aircraft/engine components at the aircraft accident/mishap site.

System Safety Engineering and Certification

Participants will gain theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of safety engineering addressing requirements capture, design, development, test, and operation and maintenance of aerospace hardware and software safety-critical components and systems.
